6 Month Checkup

Our 6 month checkup went really well. You wouldn't know from these photos, but Jack turns on the charm for Dr. Mirrop. He loves the guy. Jack chortled and cooed and thought the whole exam was great fun. Our sweet little baby did an impressive job with the shots as well. He cried with each prick, then it was over. He even grinned at the shot nurse when she was done. (? weird kid?). Jack is a healthy little guy. The doctor was surprised to see him sitting up on his own. Dr. Mirrop said most kids are able to sit up unassisted at 7 months. He felt for new teeth. Jack has a couple that are "right there". We're expecting them to show up any day now. I asked the doctor to look at the carpet burn on Jack's face. (He likes to rub his face on the floor while he's sleeping and while he's sticking his bum in the air.) Looks like Jack has a little eczema on his face. It's on his legs as well. I told the doctor I was a little frustrated that all the information I could find about feeding babies solids was very vague and not really helpful. He agreed. He said if Jack likes solids, to give him as much as he wants. He said it's really hard to overfeed a baby solids. Yesterday Jack downed to Stage 2 jars and could have eaten more. Breastmilk is still his main source of nutrition so as long as he's nursing (which he is, he hasn't slowed at all) we can feed him as much as he wants. That's about it. The pacifier is gone for good. Jack didn't need it even when he got his shots! Oh, the current stats are: weight: 16lb 6 oz length: 26.5". Jack's head circumference inched up into the 50-75% bracket. (we knew this kid wasn't going to have an average size head for very long). Otherwise, he is staying strong on the 50% line. Good job, Jack.
