It is officially summer around here. That means frequent trips to the pool. Shawn took these shortly after our Saturday trip. We're lucky to have some great public pools a short distance from our house. This year, Jack is big enough to negotiate the kiddie pools by himself. He LOVES it. A cranky moment is easily solved by a promise to head to the pool. It also wipes him out. He sleeps like a log after a cool swim.
Jack also started swimming lessons. We tried the preschool class at the Y....the one where parents just watch (yeah!). I think next year it will be the right class. Jack was the youngest of all the kids and it was little too intimidating...and involved too much waiting for my little man. Yesterday we tried the parent/child class. It was right up his alley. We sang songs, paddled around for toys and blew bubbles. He had a blast! Jack's favorite part was picking out a pool toy, throwing it as far as he could and then doggie paddling (with support from Mom) to get it. He was so focused on getting the toy he didn't realize I was just barely touching him. I think by the end of the summer he might be able to do it on his own.
