More about Eggs

We have eggs! If you didn't know, we've had chickens for a while now. We brought them home around Thanksgiving and have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the first egg. Turns out we missed it somehow. Shawn was working on the coop and found 3 eggs! One was in the nesting box, and two had clearly rolled out. We ate the one that wasn't broken...fried, on toast....and it was delicious! For two self-described city folk, Shawn and I have strawberries, tomatoes, blackberries....and our own EGGS. We think it's Green Light, the black and white chicken that is laying. We had one egg yesterday which tells us that yes, only one chicken is laying. When the other three start laying eggs, we're going to have a lot of eggs. 4 per day x 7 days a week = mucho eggs.

We had several kids over yesterday. Jack was excited to show them his egg. It was promptly broken. It upset everyone....except the chickens who ran over and tried to eat it. Do chickens eat their own eggs???
